Port Setup dialog box
A port is an external socket on a computer into which you can plug a cable or a peripheral device. Ports let the IBMR Lotus NotesR client connect to a server from which it can receive mail and to which it can send outgoing mail.

Depending on the type of port you're configuring, you see different dialog boxes when you click File > Preferences > User Preferences, click Ports, and then click Options (tailored to the type of port).

TCP/IP Port Setup dialog box

You can increase the number of seconds that IBM LotusR DominoR waits before terminating a connection attempt on this port. The default interval is 5 seconds.

To increase the interval, enter a number of seconds and click OK.

NETBIOS Port Setup dialog box

Note: You see the NETBIOS Port Setup dialog box when you click the LANx Options button.

By setting a NetBIOS/LAN port to manual setup, you can change the NetBIOS Unit/LANA number for the port. It's unlikely that you will need to change this number from the default of 0, unless your network administrator asks you to do so. For more information on the NetBIOS Unit/LANA number, see Defining a NetBIOS LANA number for a NotesR network port if you have installed Domino Administrator Help. Or, go to Lotus Documentation on the Web to download or view Lotus Domino Administrator Help.

To change the NetBIOS Unit/LANA number

1. Click Manual setup.

2. Enter a number and click OK.
