The Designer server task automatically synchronizes all server application files that are linked to a template. This server task runs by default at 1:00 A.M. For the update to work, a template must reside on the same server as the application files linked to it. Replicas synchronize with the templates stored on their servers.

You should manually refresh the design of an application when:

• The application is stored on your computer; therefore, the nightly Designer server task doesn't update the design.
• You want to receive design updates before the scheduled update.
• You don't have Designer access to the application.

• Forms, fields, form actions, and event scripts
• Views, folders, and view actions
• Agents
• Pages
• Framesets
• Navigators
• Shared fields
• All Application Properties box options, except List as advanced template in 'New Application' dialog on the Design tab
• The options Optimize document table map and Don't support specialized response hierarchy on the Advanced tab of the Application Properties box

• The application icon (unless the designer disabled the Prohibit design refresh or replace to modify box in the Design Properties box
• The application title and category
• The application ACL and encrypt application settings

  Note: To update ACL roles use File > Application > Access Control > Roles.

• Using This Application and About This Application documents (unless the designer disabled the Prohibit design refresh or replace to modify box in the Design Properties box)
• Individual elements whose design is protected from updates (that is, if Prohibit design refresh or replace to modify is selected by the designer on the Design tab of the Design Properties box for the element)
• A component whose template, specified by the designer in the Inherit from the design template box on the Design tab of the Design Properties box, is unavailable

  CAUTION: An element with inheritance set is not replaced even if its design is not protected from updates (that is, if Prohibit design refresh or replace to modify is not selected by the designer).

• The List as advanced template in 'New Database' dialog option on the Design tab of the Application Properties box
• All options on the Advanced tab of the Application Properties box, except Optimize document table map" and "Don't support specialized response hierarchy

You must have Advanced Menus enabled to perform these steps. If you do not see the menu option in step 1, click View > Advanced Menus.

1. Open the NotesR application to be updated, and click File > Application > Refresh Design.

2. Select the Notes server that stores the master template(s) or select Local if the master templates are on your workstation, and then click OK.

3. Click Yes to confirm.

4. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 if other master templates associated with the application are stored on other servers.
