MAIL
A Notes mail message is the same as any Notes document. For example, you can change fonts and colors, add file attachments, and include tables, graphics, and links when creating or editing a mail message. If your recipients' non-Notes mail programs are MIME-compatible, recipients can see elements such as text styles in your messages. You can also send streamlined replies without pictures or attachments, or format your replies Internet-style, as plain text with line markers.
No matter what type of mail you have--Domino Notes mail or Internet mail (for example, with an Internet service provider)--Notes gives you one easy-to-use interface. You can use Notes to participate in Internet newsgroups and look up names and mail addresses using Internet directory services such as Bigfoot. When connected to the Internet, you can use a browser to access your mail. When you are not connected to your local area network or the Internet, whether you are in a hotel, airplane, car, or train, you can still create, send, reply to, and forward mail. Notes stores all your outgoing mail messages in a mailbox to deliver later when you reconnect.
To perform some mail tasks, you must be using the latest version of the mail and contacts templates (Mail8.ntf and Pernames.ntf, respectively). To perform most mail tasks, you must set up your connection to your mail as described in Getting connected.
If you start Notes for the first time and see the message Your administrator has specified that your mail file design should be upgraded, click OK only if you have already upgraded to that version of Notes on all computers you use, or you won't be able to use your mail on the computers without that version. Click Cancel to use Notes and your mail without the latest features until you are ready to upgrade. If you have questions, ask your administrator. Upgrading will not delete your personal mail folders.
