INSTANT MESSAGING

Displaying short names in the instant messaging contact list
By default, the instant messaging contact list displays people's full (Notes hierarchical or Internet style) names -- for example Dorothy White/East/Acme or dwhite@acme.com. If you prefer, you can display people's Notes short names, such as Dot White.

Note: The features described in this topic are available only if your company has an IBM Lotus Sametime server. The Macintosh version of Lotus Notes does not support some instant messaging features, for example, instant meetings and multiple-person chats.

To display short names, follow these steps:

1. Click File > Preferences.

2. Click User Preferences.

3. Click the plus sign beside Instant Messaging and then click Options.

4. Under Contact list, select Show short names.

Note: If you have used the standalone IBM Lotus Sametime Connect client and set a preference for list sorting there, Notes uses your preference as the default.
