The Internet search uses Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) accounts for the directories in your Contacts. IBMR Lotus NotesR adds these accounts to the list in the Directory field of the Select Addresses dialog box that you see when you address mail.
Once you have set up LDAP accounts, see To find Internet e-mail addresses or other data in Internet directories for information on using the accounts to perform searches.
You can set up accounts using the Client Reconfiguration Wizard or set them up manually. Using either method, NotesR automatically creates accounts for the two directories listed in the table below.
Common Internet directories and settings
To set up an Internet directory search using the wizard
1. From anywhere in Notes, click File > Preferences > Client Reconfiguration Wizard.
2. Check Directory server (LDAP) and then click Next.
3. Select an account name (Bigfoot and Verisign will be on the list automatically), and then click Next.
To set up an Internet directory search manually
If you don't want to use the Client Reconfiguration Wizard, you can set up a search manually, using this procedure.
1. From the menu, click File > Mobile > Locations.
2. Click Actions > New > Account.
3. Type a name in the Account name field (Bigfoot, for example).
4. Enter the host name of the LDAP server (for example, ldap.bigfoot.com) in the Account server name field.
5. If the server requires a login name or password, enter them in the Login name and Password fields.
6. Select LDAP in the Protocol field.
7. (Optional) Do either or both of the following:

10. Click Save and Close.
Note: If you cannot connect to an Internet directory, you may behind a network firewall. Contact your DominoR administrator for assistance.
