INSTANT MESSAGING

Displaying only online people in the instant messaging contact
list

By default, the instant messaging contact list displays the names of all the people in your private groups, including people who are offline with whom you cannot communicate. If you prefer, you can display only people who are online.

Note: The features described in this topic are available only if your company has an IBM Lotus Sametime server. The Macintosh version of Lotus Notes does not support some instant messaging features, for example, instant meetings and multiple-person chats.

Note: Names for people in public groups behave differently than those in private groups. Members of a public group appear in your instant messaging contact list only when they are online, even if your instant messaging contact list is set to display all people.

To display online buddies only, follow these steps:

1. Click File > Preferences.

2. Click User Preferences.

3. Click the plus sign next to Instant Messaging and then click Options.

4. Under Contact list, select Show online people only.

Note: If you have used the standalone IBM Lotus Sametime Connect client and set a preference for list sorting there, Notes uses your preference as the default.
