COMPOSITE APPLICATIONS - DESIGN AND MANAGEMENT
A container provides a simplified way for an application assembler to create components from existing "application assets" - Notes View and Notes PIM, Host on Demand (terminal / 5250), Symphony Documents, Web Pages, and more.
Alternatively you can think of a container as a template for generating a component, whereby the container is used to dynamically configure the asset and then add that asset as a component in the palette of the Composite Application Editor.
In addition the Catalog preview feature allows the Composite Application Editor to open the Widget Catalog, similar to My Widgets, to share and publish components.
